Bizanet - Argeles-sur-Mer

 Saturday 28 January

Today we drove from Montech to Bizanet, a small village west of Narbonne - this time to a campsite as it was time to catch up with some washing!  The land is really dry and rocky around here, so a perfect environment for our 2 friends here!

The goats were very interested in our bag of (clean and dry) washing on its way back to the van.
The view down into the valley behind our pitch.  This was late afternoon on a dull day.

Sunday 29 January

What a difference a day makes!  Same view behind us, but with sunshine!

After a brief drive around the village - we were looking for 2 geocaches at lavoirs.  We found one of them but couldn't find anywhere to park at the other.  So we continued on some very thin and bumpy roads - we think we have a lot of potholes - to a nearby Abbey which looked really interesting to visit.  So we parked up in the huge carpark and set off to the entrance.  But before we got there, 2 ladies stopped us and explained that despite all the bumph about it stated that is is open every day of the year except Christmas and New Years Day, it was fermee till next week!
The closed gates
and the sign.

Oh well, maybe we'll pass this way on our way back home....

So after a leisurely hot drink in our van - other visitors were just driving away again - we set off on our next leg of journeying.  Managed to take this photo from the van as we sped along the motorway.  Carcassonne is a favourite place of ours, but not visiting today.

Our first view of the snow-capped Pyrenees,

continuing south almost to the Spanish border, to Argeles-sur-Mer.  We are staying tonight at another Camping-Car Park a few minutes walk from this beach.  We have reached the Mediterranean. Hurrah! And in beautiful sunshine too.  Admitted we still won't part with our winter coats just yet.....

We followed a footpath by a wooded area away from the beach and found a geocache behind this tree.
Sad to hear the news this afternoon of the passing of a lovely lady from our Church.  RIP Janet P.

  1. Hi
Glad you have reached the sea, it looks beautiful! Happy to say it has also warmed up here and we have bright sunshine this morning!
Had a good service yesterday led by Chrissy Millwood, , on Micah's themes of justice, and kindness which we will be picking up at House group tomorrow.
Sad news about Janet P, but Gavin visited them both on Saturday and she was ready to go.
Hope the sun stays with you on your travels!
    Love Carolyn.xx
