Saint Saturnin

 Monday 23 January

Rather a lot of travelling today - route took us through and around Rouen, then south on A28 almost to Le Mans.  We were rather longer on the road than planned as the junction we were to come off just north of Le Mans was quite a complicated one and between John on the satnav and me on the road atlas, we managed to turn off too soon and found ourselves on the A81 going west towards Nantes!  It was 20k before the next junction to turn round and come all the way back!

St. Saturnin is quite an attractive small town with plenty of open spaces.  We are at the Camping-Car Park (very near the railway, but we are used to that at home!) on the edge of a park.  We had a very bracing walk through it, but it was too cold to take my gloves off to take photos.  So here are just 2 of the Church and the view down to the town from above the wall.  It's not snow, just white paving, but we've seen quite a bit of it still lingering by the wayside on our journey.

We are hoping it will get warmer soon - maybe we've got to wait till we are in the far south of France.  In the meantime, please be patient for more colourful pictures eventually.
