Valentine Supper at Agora Restaurant

 Wednesday 15 February

Today was quite a relaxing day, with just a short walk along the beach with Karen and Steve to give us a bit of exercise between reading, jigsaw-doing and lunch.  But we had a brilliant day-before-birthday-evening at the nearby Agora Restaurant.  It was a day-late Valentine evening, run by Rob, the chap whose mandarine farm/home we went to on Saturday.  This is him in the photo, checking that everyone was having a good time.  We had pre-ordered, but forgotten what we were having, but fortunately Yvonne, Rob's wife had a spreadsheet with our table number and all the info.  John's starter was bruchetta and I had a chilled cauliflower soup.

My main was a fish pie
And John's BBQ spare ribs.
Table decorated with pretty pink blossom, heart-shaped mats and silk petals.  Everybody had a little bag with 3 heart-shaped biscuits and a chocolate.
We'd started eating our puds, but this shows them deconstructed - chocolate cake and blackberry pavlova.
Rob entertained us all for a while with his singing. Nice voice.  Here he is singing to his wife who is the mastermind behind this evening.
We didn't know anybody there, but chatted with the couples either side of us, one have an apartment, the other staying at a hotel in town.  The restaurant is at the back of the town, too far for us to walk in the evening and too dark to want to take the van.  So John had asked Rob on Saturday if he could recommend a taxi service (we hadn't seen any taxis around at all) and he gave us the number of an English friend who lives in the town who would be going to the meal.  Steve O picked us up - his wife went in her own car - he left at 9 to go home to watch football! and his wife Mary brought us home.  Perfect!
