Street Party and Torre de la Sal

 Sunday 12 February

The sunshine is here to stay for a while.  So after zoom Church (well, most of it, as it's an hour later here, and needed to get on with preparing Sunday lunch....), we moved table, chairs, cushions, food and drink into the next row to ours for a small street party.  Met a few new-to-us people and enjoyed lots of chat and a few laughs.  We were not too rowdy and couldn't compete with the much smaller group of Germans nearby!

We needed exercise after that, so had a walk by the sea and I had my first paddle - in much calmer sea than last week.  We sat with our cups of tea watching the waves, the birds and 1 boat.

Monday 13 February

Today we took the van out for a run again.  A few miles south to Torre de la Sal.  We drove into this enormous car park (that did have a sign saying no caravans/motorhomes but ignored that - Dot, no comments please!) but we were the only vehicle there all afternoon.

So it was a good picnic lunch spot before a walk.....

.... first along the prom in front of a row of hotch-potch and charming old houses overlooking the sea.

Each of them had a banner hanging, telling us that they were not at all happy that there were plans to demolish the lot.  So they left a petition for passers by to sign in the hopes that this would work on the powers that be.  We are not so sure ....  However, we signed it just the same, even if our votes won't count because it asked for passport no.!  They got one, but just a random number including an old phone number and 66!

Some houses were a bit past it, but some had made a real effort with their little patch of garden.

We assume these blocks that stand alone back from the sea, will eventually come right to the beach...

... but for now, it's a lovely place to explore on a sunny day.

From here, going north, the land is a nature reserve with sandy and stoney paths running between the sea, small lakes and low shrubs - anything that will grow in sand.  The little black blob on the far left of this picture is a small hide where we had a little rest after finding 3 geocaches.  Not the day for spotting the birds, though - only saw one!
